For all you ladies who love to have a smoothie after a good sweat session here is what I love to put into my smoothies! It’s so yummy, you have to try it!!
½ of a banana
½ cup of strawberries
¼ cup of plain greek yogurt (I prefer non-fat)
¼ cup of coconut water
¼ cup of water
½ tsp of spirulina powder
1 tsp of natural peanut butter
½ cup of ice
Add all of the ingredients together, blend and voila you have a delicious high protein smoothie for after your workout!
I personally like to stay away from adding protein powder into my smoothies because I find they can upset my stomach quite a bit. Greek yogurt is high in protein, spirulina is a complete protein meaning that it contains all 9 essential amino acids and natural peanut butter is also high in protein, so there are definitely other ways to have a high protein smoothie without having to add protein powder. Of course, if you like to add protein powder to your smoothies you definitely can. If you want to stay away from adding too much sugar, like I do, you can swap juice for a mix of coconut water and plain water. Coconut water is super hydrating and after working out you want to make sure your getting your fluids in without all the added sugar and calories!
