This past September, True Activewear owners, Katie and Jess traveled to Vietnam in search of a manufacturing partner that would match their own values and beliefs. After researching hundreds of manufacturing facilities, they finally decided on a WRAP facility located in Hanoi that seemed to not only match their ethical and sustainability objectives but also specialized in fitness apparel textiles and delivering the highest quality product.
WRAP is an independent, objective, non-profit team of global social compliance experts dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane, and ethical manufacturing around the world through certification and education. It is the world’s largest independent certification program mainly focusing on apparel, footwear, and sewn product sectors. There facilities believe in not only following the countries regulations and standards in regards to production but also excel in providing a great work environment with equal respect to all staff members and affiliated partners.
It was important to both Katie and Jess to see the facilities, meet those who were sewing, cutting and packing their garments in order to really know what was happening when their designs were coming to life. True Activewear will transition to their new partner in Vietnam over the next few months and are excited to continue to share their journey and experience with ethical and sustainable manufacturing. It’s about time we ask ourselves, who makes your clothes?
